Have a few carb choices, opions
I have a very nice little 355 in my bird, I have a 600cfm holley vac secondary on it right now, and its a dog until the secondaries open but its always to late.
I want to get a 650 DP. But I have a edelbrock reman Q-jet, non CC. Got it for 100$ from a friends dad with only 1000 miles on it, looks new, and they have been discontinued.
What should I got with? my car is an auto but gas mileage is kind of a concern it will DD 2-3 times a week.
1:600 vac secdonary
2: 650 DP
3: non CC q-jet
im thinking the Q-jet
what should work best?

How well the DP would work depends upon your cam and converter stall speed.
This doggedness you talk about - is it all the time, or only when you mash it? If only WOT, then you may be experiencing bog, meaning the secondaries are opening too soon.
If fuel economy is the overriding concern, the q-jet is the only logical choice.

Re: Have a few carb choices, opions
its just overall the carb just doesnt seem to be able to feed my engine, it doesnt bog or antyhing, when i hit the gas its all there. the carb is a hunk of junk im using for now to just have the car work, it leaks from the bowl screws, I think something is wrong with the vac secondary, like they dont open when they should.
it will pull hard through first then the timing picks up but thats it, the secondaries dont seem to give me anymore kick then what Im getting.
I think the q-jet will be going on soon
Is there any performance loss from going to a q-jet? im hoping to gain. ive got a kit from edelbrock to tune it, im fairly familiar with the CCC version. this one came off a mild 350 to so it may need no tuning.
what do you think five7kid?

The q-jet has more than 600 CFM flow capability, so you shouldn't be losing any power.
