hey everybody got a question first off just got an 87 lt camaro 305 with roch. carb had carb rebuilt and got car running but its spitting gas out the carb(too rich?)and boggs out when i give it gas. im thinking its the eletric choke but i dont know. really could use some advice thanks everyone

is it flooding? mine did that when it was flooding, my choke was/is bad. do you know where your choke is? check and see if its getting stuck on like mine was, its on the left side if your looking at the front of the vehicle.

hey its not flooding but when messing with it yesterday noticed the choke wasnt opening up. does anyone know where to get an eletric choke for a roch carb? looked at auto parts stores here and cant find one. but even when i held the choke open it was still running ruff. any ideas?thanks.

Sounds like its time for a rebuild. It also sounds like your floats are sticking.

I just pulled mine off an old rochester that someone gave me, he used to work on carbs. I would just go around town and ask a few shops

ok so got the choke working. and carb was just rebuilt by a carb shop here.runs now but no power when hit gas. tired adjusting the carb didnt seem to help

hmm...sounds really close tot he problem im having, i'm still trying to figure it out too. do you know if your secondaries are opening?

the secondarys are opening but its spitting gas out the top and boggs when giving it gas

i dont think its the timing cause when its just sitting it runs fine till you give it gas but ill check the timing tomorrow just incase

Where is is spitting gas from? If it boggs when you are sitting in your driveway (no load) you probably have a timing issue. I had a similar issue. It could also be that the tension in the spring that holds the secondaries closed is to light. Try holding the secondaries closed and throttling it and see if that fixes your problem. There are two squirters, one in each primary hole, that squirts gas into the bore when you give it gas. Is it maybe one of these splashing against the bore that you call spiting?

ok its vspitting up throught the main ports,and not just alittle splash. and if its timing how do i correct the prob?
anybody live on long island and want to help me get this running....only car and need it running will make worth ur while $$
