What are these Hoses for?
I'm going to replace the Quadrajet carb on my trans am with an Edelbrock and want to know what the hoses that are on it do. It has 5 hoses connected to it. I know what 2 of them are, The fuel line and the hose to vacuum advance distributor. The 3rd goes to the Valve cover but I don't know what its for.
The last 2 are the ones I would really like to know about. One of them goes where the brake fluid reservoir is and I don't have a clue where the other one goes to because it goes into some wires.
The "unknown hose"
Heres where the the hoses are connected to the carb
Side shot

the big hose in the first pic is the vacuum feed for the power brake booster, you need it
the small hose is the feed for the hvac controls. Disconnect it, and you will loose you heater controls and only have defrost.

The one that goes to your valve cover is your PCV valve hose.
Now you know where they all go, can I ask why your swapping to edelbrock and ditching the Qjet?

Yeah its for my '89. The Qjet was leaking fuel and i'd rather not mess with it.
While I was messing with the hoses, a plastic line snapped to this. I'm going to cut a small hose and connect it again, will that work?

Thats your heater control valve, getting a vac line to slip over both sides to reconnect it should work just fine.
