Hey everyone,
Well I've managed to stay away from restorations for approximately two months. I think thats really good going!
I finished up the 84 S/E (and immediately after hit a pothole which wiped out most of the drivers rear suspension, tyre and arch) and now have the bug again.
Well I've known about this car for about ten years; its been sat at a junk yard here in the UK and I myself have vultured it for parts before now, in fact the passenger door in on my S/E!
Anyway I'm not going to prattle on about it. I rescued the car simple because it has all the structural upgrades ASC fitted to them, and all of the convertible, year specific parts are all present and accounted for and the hod mechanism works flawlessly.
So am I receiving any medication for this condition? My wife wishes I was! She said no, I bought it anyway and now she's picking colours. Right?!
So the plan is to completely gut the shell, blast it and replace all the sheet metal with new if i can find reproduction panels, otherwise I have to make them up.

It's gonna be a long job, i know this, but I'm ready and this one will be with me until I die.

Two of my favorite colors were Corvette colors if you’re looking for suggestions..
Always loved the C4 Admiral Blue and it always grabbed me when one drove by on a sunny day.. also the Magnetic Red was a little less “brick red” than the flame and dark red metallic that came on the IROCs..
I tend to prefer metallic clear coat finishes on Third Gens because the metal flakes accentuate the flat angles of the body IMO

I like all of those colours but for once I don't want anything fancy. I'm either leaning towards resto-mod (so 18-20" wheels) with a pearl paint job (OEM) or old school flat colours like red or yellow with some black 15 or 16" wheels with white letter tyres. For me this is weird but I'm leaning towards the smaller wheels with the tyre lettering for starters!

Hey everyone, sorry for taking my time but I've been busy with all sots, you know how it is.
OK so I've been stripping and chopping to my hearts content and now have the shell down to its bare bones. I've got a blasting company coming out on the 4th June to bead blast the whole shell and once thats done I'll start the proper fabrication stage; repairing all the ventilated areas with new steel and once thats done I'll be able to think about paintwork.
I also manage to hunt down a '98 LS1 camaro complete, so I've been fiddling with that to make sure eveything works as I'm going to use as much as possible and basically sling all the 4rd gen stuff as I don't want it.
Ive spent a lot of time with mods so I can use the LS1 brakes on the 3rd gen including having the rotors turned down to just hubs to use with the LS1 brake discs and bashing out bearing races and all that fun!
Also been investigating all the brackets and ancillaries I'll need to run all the 4th gen equipment.
It's a big job but I'll get through it, and I'm really enjoying it!

Hey everyone, sorry for the extended period away but I've been a very busy bunny.
I removed everything that attached the 4th gen interior to the body shell (including the heater box minus the AC) and welded it into the 3rd gen, so now it has an interior that fits like factory and look like it should be there! I've repaired the driver side floorpan, and rocker and inner wheel arch and am moving on to the rear inner arches this weekend.
I've now had all the steering and suspension components delivered, so I'm moving on to getting the brake stuff ordered as it'll be a mismatch of parts from the 3rd and 4th gen cars to make it work!
Hope you've all taken a look at @theirocproject on instagram and facebook to keep up to date with the progress on a more regular basis.
Oh and I've decided on a colour but I'm not going to let anyone know until you see it in a photo!!

I looked forever for a black on black 90 iroc (last year) or a 92 25th car. Finally found a 92 and I put GTA lumbar seats in it and posi rear pbr disc brakes. Got a new 350 and 700r4 coming and I'm done with it except I have to get brave and put the new top on. So I hope it's black or torch red or yellow. Verts look good black.

Oh I'm going to be in trouble! It's none of those colours. It's going to be a very closely guarded secret until it's done too. Mainly to save me from abuse, haha! I went on a 430 mile round trip for a really good rust free drivers door on Saturday, so now I have to find a good rust free passenger door and I have all the panels I need for this car. I mean, I have doors, but they're trash, Im not going to use them on this.
I've managed to prep all the new metal for the reinforcement panels on the drivers rocker, so now I have some more repairs to do underneath at the back and I can permanently fit them.
Something I have noticed is that the X VIN cars seem to have been shipped to ASC in primer. Underneath the reinforced steelwork, theres no colour at all, yet on the outside they're all body colour. No wonder they rusted so easy!

I know its been a while but we've been so busy over the past few weeks with Christmas and New Year (Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!). My daily driver turned out to be not the bargain I thought it was so I replaced it with something a bit more......me....
Because we're in the UK where fuel is actually charged in blood, it's the 3.0 Turbo Diesel Mercedes unit, remapped to 300bhp and returns about 35mpg (UK) so I can live with this happily. Plus I've wanted one like this for years. 2 owners and only 70k miles so who can complain?
Back to the project. Aside from collecting parts monthly I haven't really done much. The shell has been sat on its side for about 6 weeks while I do some welding that requires it to be in that position, namely the passenger side inner rocker where some muppet lifted the car by the edge instead of the frame rail (which i see on almost every Firebird and Camaro in this country....fools). It's pretty rotten, as is the rocker itself so I'm going to have to do some major fabrication due to the cost of shipping the rockers to the UK. Works out about 500USD for the pair which is ridiculous, and I'm just not prepared to pay it with everything else this car needs.
And I've started work on the side and rear emblems so I can customise them for my colour scheme and design. I have a company prepared to produce them so pretty soon I'll be able to show you what they look like. Exciting times!
