Thermostat

My car just overheated and i have no clue why, wasn't hot out. not in much traffic, radiator was filled with coolant. Told Stat might be stuck and t get a new one. what kind should i get, car runs aroud 220 right now but wouldn't it be better to get a lower stat.

well, i did figure out what the problem was. The Fan won't come on anymore so for now i have to drive around with the air on to bypass the relay and turn the fan on. Im assuming it's either a bad relay or sending unit in the Rad. Still would like to get a new thermostat though.

AC on does not bypass the relay, it only gives it another method to turn on. The fan switch is located on the pass side block between cyl's 6-8. It has a single wire to it. Grounding that wire with key on engine off should turn on the fan. That confirms all wiring and the relay are working. Since the fan runs with AC then you can be pretty sure it's a bad fan control switch or perhaps the wire simply came off. The fan relays are notorious for being intermittent. With the AC on and fan running give it a couple of taps with a screwdriver handle. Also wiggle the fan relay connector as they can also be a problem.
