86 305 TPI running way to HOT
I believe it is due to the air dam. Can someone tell me if this is suppose to be a 3 piece part, and if so, should it hang straight down or be at an angle. I have had the radiator flushed, thermostat replaced, etc. I appreciate any feed back.
Thanks for the post. I recently purchased for my son and have been doing a lot of work on it. Once we got it on the road, it runs great, just hot. I will definately be picking up a new piece to put on this weekend. I assume they hang straight down. I am glad I ran across this site as it has been great. Thanks, Dora.
if it's a z28 it should be a larger one piece deal. Also make sure that it angles forward a little bit so that it ducts air up through the radiator. They usually end up getting smashed & bent so that they end up being useless. Also keep in mind if you have the electric fan the factory systems don't turn the cooling fan on till you are damn near at redline, which is way too late in these cars at their age.Either change the fan switch to a lower temp one or just rig up a manual fan on switch, which is what I did. When you are puttering around town in traffic just hit the switch and turn the fan on and leave it on and temp needle will sit right at whatever your thermostat is.Also don't trust the factory gauge, they are notoriously innacurate.Have I missed anything guys?
