anyone ever run perma-cool fan switch

i bought their adjustable fan switch that has the probe that you stick into the fins of the radiator. when i first installed it, it didn't work. i narrowed it down to a bad module. so i called up perma cool and the tech guy agreed with me. so i sent it back to jegs and the gave me another. i installed it last night and it still doesnt work. i find it hard to believe that i got two bad modules. i have the fans hooked up to a toggle switch for the time being but i would like to solve this problem. i hooked all the wiring up right. the power wire gets power to the plug at the module, but it never works. i know the fans work because i can eliminate the module and jump the wires and both fans work. i hooked everything back up and then stuck the probe into boiling water(over 190*) and it didnt work. i had the adjustment set to the lowest setting(160*). has anyone ever had this happen to them. thanks for any help.

Hook the switch output up to a 12 volt light and see if it will light it. Usually a low set point will turn it on at about room temperature. Note that your factory fan sensor on the engine usually is a ground signal, not 12 volts. Maybe need a ground wire to the switch instead of 12 volts? Dig a little deeper into your wiring.

I think i figured it out. We have a good friend of the family who is an electriciton who came over to help us trouble shoot the problem. as it turned out the reading comming out of the end of the plug was actually a fake reading so to speak. once you plug it into the motor all of your voltage will disapear. you can test this by using a voltmeter and splicing the ends into the back of the plug.as you plug it in you can see the voltage disapear. now heres how we fixed it. as it turned out our connections that were close to the relay were not entirely good. we had a couple of loose connections that were preventing the hot from actually making it to the motor. if you used the kind of connections where you have 2 wires and crimp them together, take em off and use something along the line of a wire nut where you will get more of a solid connection. i hope this helps. if you try all that and it still doesnt work ill try to get more information for you.

Just curious if you have it working yet and if so, how well does it work? I'm getting ready to order a relay set for my fans but I wasn't sure about the probe type.

Thanks
