4th gen rad & dual fans into a 3rd gen.

Hey everyone,

I am currently in the process of swapping my 305 out for and LT1 and 4L60E. I would like to do this right the first time so I have a few questions. I bought an aftermarket aluminum radiator which I got a got deal on, except it only has provision for the upper and lower radiator hoses. Nevertheless, I am not an experienced welder nor do I know one so adding provisions for the trans lines and heater core is out the question. On to my main point, can someone give me some specific information (i.e detailed examples, pics, modifications) on what it takes to make a 4th gen radiator fit into an 86' Z28? In addtion to that I would like to know the steps involved in wiring the dual fans up and method in routing the lines( oil cooler, heater core, ps line). If someone could help me I would greatly appreciate it.

Jay

You should beable to take the heater core lines from the water pump.

As far as fitment, sense you already have the new one, take ur old one out and try fitting it, it should fit width wise, but i think hight will be the problem. You will probly have to fab up some type of new top support to hold the fan down and in.

Wireing up the fans will be just the the dual control that is stickied to this forum.

for radiator support- i took a radiator support or shroad from a 4th gen. Had to cut it up quite a bit. I pretty much cut it in half from left to right. I'll have to drill 4 holes in it yet but it works well right now. I will post pics when i find my camera.
