water pump

Ok, so end of fall last year I was screwing around doing a really long burnout seeing if I could leave a tread mark around this building and my car over-heated. It was gushing fluid out of the bottom. Figured it was just a hose so I parked it for the winter. Just replaced the hoses let the car idle up to temp. Didn't see any leaks so I drove it home. Well it wasn't the hoses its leaking out of the top of the water pump. Looks like I blew a little cap off or something. Can I replace the little cap or do I need a new pump?

86 trans am 305 TPI. Thanks in advance.
