Cooling problems for swap motor 84 Camero
Cooling problems for swap motor 84 Camero
I have a 1984 Camero that I just bought and has an 84' impala motor in it. Fan is belt driven and because I was worried that the clutch may not have worked I replaced it with another thremo clutch, its suppose to engage at the right temp, but when first starting in the morning it doesnt move much. Replaced the electronic disprutor and carborater with an Edilebrock intake, 1405 carborater and now soon as it gets to running temp its start hackling and cackling and have to leave my foot on the gas. Infered thermometor on intake and radiator hose. Hose at 216 thermastat housing at 227. At temp with AC on it continues to climb. Accoding to the gage and infra therm temp appers to be normal. leads me to believe that have improperly installed the intake manifold as i have already replaced the carb with anoher 1405. I have placed a fuel regulator as far from the motor as possible to ensure that the fuel does not boil. I will rap it with tape if this forum deems necssariy. I would like to replace belt driven fan with a 2 electric 2 fan variable controll assembly but i do not know how to do it yet as my fan shroud is my upper raditor moutning bracket. I ahve an idea of using Ford Mustang upper brackets to hold the raditor in place so I can mount an electric dual fan assembly.
Still my purpose of this forum is tofind out from fellow Camero owners who may have modify their cars to be a sleeper, what can I do or do you have any idea of why my car appers to be at normal running temp and starts to hesitate and drop in idle and eventually die from overheating when the temp on the intake is 216 and the header is 512 degrees?? All I need to do is get back and fourth to work which is 16 miles.
P.S. I promis to be an advid user that does not ask stupid questions...unless you think this question is stupid!!!
