Anyone have knowledge of R-12???

I still have R-12 in my 86 T/A. It hasn't been messed with 2007. I bought a 4 oz. can of R-12 oil charge and conditioner that is supposed to condition seals and keep the AC system working longer. I bought an R12 CAN TAP TAPPER FREON REFRIGERANT RECHARGE HOSE KIT. The instructions said to add 2 oz. to AC system. What I thought was 2 oz. ended up being the whole can.......will adding 2 extra oz. cause damage? So far I feel like it's not quite blowing as cold as it was.....but that could be all in my head..lol.

Re: Anyone have knowledge of R-12???

the oil charge will not help it to cool you would actually need to get r12 freon which is not really sold to public, well at least over here where i live at. it probably low on freon. and i wouldn't over load it with oil either, it can also cause for it not to cool

Actually it was blowing nice and cold. I thought adding some oil and conditioner would help the longevity of the system??? Guess i should have left it alone!!! Hopefully the extra 2 oz. didn't hurt anything......still blowing cold so far...

I don't think 2 ounces of oil will have a detrimental effect on your system. You should be fine.

your right it isn't sold to the public. i would get a a/c conversion kit for the parts store for the r-134. you could look online to see how much r-134 it would take. It won't take the same amount but with the amount it calls for it will still do the same thing

I think I'll just stick with the r-12 for now. As long as everything is ok with the AC system. Blows pretty damn cold...lol.
