Timing and the ECM????????

I have a 85 Camaro with a 350 running on a Q-jet, LG4 harness and computer. I purchased a chip and a carb rebuild to my specks about two years ago from Jet Performance. About a month ago I noticed a misfire when under load and at idle my tack would flutter. I replaced the entire distributor with another (cap, coil, module, etc.), the old distributor had about six degrees slop in it. The new distributor is now doing what the old one was doing. I also noticed that under minimal load the tack jumps up in increments of about 300RPM and I also noticed a sound difference with the jump. I have been told that it may be my ESC module. I took one of my parts car and my car did the same thing. The other thing I was told is it may be the ECM itself. I have not been able to swap the ECM out of another vehicle yet. Also been told it could be the knock sensor. Wanted to know if I was going in the right direction. The computer is also not putting out a code?!?! If there is any anything else I should look into please let me know.:hail:
