does my 92 T/A computer use the speedometer?

I have a 92 trans am, 305 TPI 700r4, and I am considering putting the engine/trans and computer into a 70 nova. I plan on keeping all smog parts in place and generally not modifying anything at first, basically just moving everything over. My first question is what does the computer use to sense the vehicle speed, does it use a sensor in the trans or in the speedo head? I am hoping to keep the original 1970 guages in place in the nova. Is there anything else maybe I am missing that would have to also go with the engine and trans besides the fuel system?

Jags that Run, has a web site, and an engine swap manual, you'll find interesting. Also, that part numbers for the parts you'll need.

A 92 Ta would use the vss in the transmission, I think jagsthatrun.com make a pass thru that allows a siginal to go to the computer and a cable connection to go to the speedo. Or it my be dakotadigital.

not sure. But they are available.

neat stuff on that site, I will get the engine swapping book. I havent been under this car yet, just got it today, but from what I am reading it looks like this car doesnt even use a speedo cable, just pulses from the VSS on the trans. Maybe I will just make a custom dash panel and move the T/A guages over, they really arent bad looking.
