just burned a chip- SES wont flash and engine wont start
I just burned a chip for the tuned port setup i just swapped onto my motor (91 SD, 730 ECM, AUJP bin) and when I turn the key, nothing happens. All I changed in the bin was disabling the VATS, masking the EGR code and programing in my injector constant. The fuel pump comes on, and the SES comes on but wont flash. What did I do wrong and how can I fix it by friday afternoon at the latest? thanks

You have an SES problem. Possibly the eprom/Memcal is not seated properly, incorrect checksum or the eprom wasn't erased long enough (if you aren't using a Flash Prom).
Basically, the information you are providing is too limited. Disclose EVERYTHING, even if you don't think it's important and it may provide more clues. Also, read the SES code.

I am using flash proms (AT29C256), editing it with Winbin, and I have a Power Programer 2. I am using the latest version of the AUJP bin from diy-efi.org and I'm using the 730 ECM file that came with winbin. The light would flash before I took out the original PROM and soldered in the flash prom. From what I can see, all the legs are soldered into the memcal. Is there any way I can check to make sure they are connected? After I programed the PROM, I verified it and it matched the buffer. All I changed was the injector constant, masked the EGR code, and I deselected VATS and all the check boxes for the air diverter valve. Your help is apreciated! :hail:

Not that this is your problem but the ecu file that comes with winbin doesn't do the math right for the injector constant. When you increase injector size with that ecu file it actually lowers it. You need to get the ecu that's at diy-efi.org under the info for 730 ecm. I think it's called 730-8D.ecu and it has the proper formula for doing inj constant.

Mmmm, I think: "Memcal is not seated properly" or it was destroyed at desolder/solder process.

I got a new .bin and it's tuned the way I need it (thanks to whoever that is, btw) but it still wont work. When I had the prom out, I checked for continuity in the memcal and all the legs were fine. I soldered the prom back in and I made sure all the legs on the prom were connected to the memcal. what else could be wrong?

While you may have continuity through the pins of the flash prom to the memcal, there is nothing saying you didn't have solder drip between two pins (thus shorting it out). Have you ever checked your SES codes?

I would get all new stuff, but I have no time for mail order. What kind of stores can I go to tomorow and get a ZIF? None of the pins on the memcal or prom are shorted together. How do I check the SES codes?

OK I got an adapter from Digikey in the mail today, so I put the EEPROM back in the memcal for good (scallop facing the center ) and put the memcal on the PP2 with the adapter like in Trax's article. I programed it to the bin file was sent to me, then I verified it but it still doesnt work in my truck. Someone told me I have to start programing at adress $4000. How do I do this with the PP2 software?

be at the end of the memcal. I'd say that device is
no longer useable.
