getting started
I am going to order the stuff to burn my own PROM, I just have a couple of questions. I know I still have a lot more research to do, but theses are just basics. Is the Pocket Programmer still the number one choice? Also, my car is a 1990 5.7 TPI, in traxxion's article it mentions the three methods required for removing and installing the PROM. I have a Hypertech chip, so I can use method three, correct?(removing there chip and using there piggyback) The main reason I am needing the PROM burned is because I installed the #24 SVO injectors thinking that it would be alright if I just turned the fuel pressure down until I could get a PROM burned, no good, it is running so rich it fouls out plugs in no time and the oil smells like gas. I plan on starting with a simple injector constant change and then I will slowly work up to the other things. Not knowing what I am doing, I should be able to at least change the fuel injector constant shouldnt I?
Thanks
Mike

Re: getting started
I'll answer what I know to be true...
It is for me, along with the 29C256 chips for their no pre-erase reburning ability. GMECMEdit is my favorite editor since it's free and constantly being updated. Gotta love the binary editors too, but those aren't where you get your feet wet...
Just FYI... If it's running rich enough that the plugs foul and the oil smells like gas, I hope you're not driving the car. Washing the cylinders with that much gas strips the oil and you wear the walls very, very quickly. That being said (for you and anyone else trying to run this much fuel), yes, you should be able to change injector constant right off the bat since it's one of the easier changes to be made.

Thanks for the reply, I drove the car to work and back once, about 10 miles one way. Other than that I have not been driving it, I do start it about once a week and let it run a few minutes just to keep the battery up. I have even changed the oil since that one short trip, so hopefully I did not cause any damage.
