checksum

What the hell is a checksum? I heard of people using this when burning chips for the ecm.????

If you were working on a 8D mask. The checksum would be the sum off all the values from 0009 to 7FFF. It's a quick and relatively accurate way to check to see if a file's been corrupted.

I thought that the pp2 software does that for me? Like when the programming is done then it verifies??

No. I think you might not understand. A checksum is a built-in check in the binary file. AFAIK, The ECM calculates the Checksum and then checks the stored BINs checksum. If the values don't MATCH then there is an error and the SES light blinks.

Everytime you modify a BIN in TunerCat and save it - TunerCat recalculates and updates the Checksum stored with the BIN.
