importing timing map from map to maf??
OK fellas,
I'm thinking about importing the timing table from an iron headed LT1 into my 32B bin for my 87 Maf car, since I'm running vortec heads which share very similar dynamics to the LT1 heads. Only problem, is that the spark maps are labeled using different load formats, LV8 vs map kPa. now, I'm certain I could probably dig into the math to figure how it equates, but has anyone already done this with any success? Obviously, the graphs appear similar, and I could smooth the maps just by doing some rescaling to the map chart in excel before importing, but how accurate would that be?
I know, its probably easier to just keep tweaking the existing map, but i'm just curious how one would go about it .
thanks!!

The LV8 (load variable 8-bit) is much the same as a MAP value. If I were to do the conversion I would take LV8 of 208 and use that as 100 KPa MAP (or maybe even 90 KPa). Then the other end of the scale: LV8 of 32 as 20 KPa MAP. Do some quick math to get the conversions in between and drop the SA numbers in.

OK, thats good, thats exactly how I was going to try it out. I just wasn't sure if the lv8 of 208 would equate exactly to a map of 100kPa, , but I'm gonna give it a whirl and go from there.
thanks!
thanks!
