There's no *eye warning*, so I doubt they're bright enough. Well, anything is bright enough if you have enough time, ie weeks or months.

All the commercial ones I've seen have a light on, drawer open inhibitor.

i'll try to find a bulb like that guy used, i can't see spending $40 on something that i can build for under $20.

IMO, you'd be time and money ahead to just use EEPROMS.
