Programmer isn't working properly

I just got my pocket programmer from xtronics and i can't get the windows version of the software to locate the device. It says something like "cannont find device on LPT1 LPT2 or LPT3 Please make sure your device is pluged in bitch" I'll feel dumb as soon as i find out because its probably been asked before, or i'm just doing something dumb. Thanks

Ben, are you sure that

1) The pocket programmer is plugged in to the wall and the parallel port ?

2) The parallel port is active and set to bi-directional in your BIOS ?

i'm positive its connected correctly. I'm anything but computer illiterat. I think it has something to do with the way windows is managing it. Any help is appreciated.

I have the exact same problem. I know that the Pocket programmer is getting power because I tested the 9vdc end with a multimeter. I am running Windows XP, and I updated the registry with ntport2.reg as listed in readme. I also have tried to email the manufacturer and it comes back as undeliverable. If anyone has solved this problem please share it with us in detail.
