Hello everyone. I have a question that I hope someone can help me with. As most of you know, the AUJP factory chips are super expensive, but the EEPROM's are dirt cheap. I can find the AUJP code base of course, and I keep reading that I still need the factory chip for the limp mode circuits. Is there a way around this? I have a complete TPI system (except the chip) and would like to swap this into my car. I've already got a harness and the 7730 ECM. Any thoughts on this, or links to info? I've looked through a lot of info and have seen some snipets about V6 chips working with a mod, but can't actually find the mod. Thanks!
So, as long as I do the jumper on that ATSN like you showed above, and then flashed a new EEPROM with the aujp code, it should work fine in a 350 TPI setup? If I use the correct ks, that will work too though, correct?
I am fairly sure the knock filter on the pickup truck and van computer memcal will work. the netres is wrong,so you cant use the whole memcal ,but I think you should be able to transplant the knock filter.
just find a 93-95 pickup with a TBI 350 and the red/blue plug computer like the '427 or one of the other compatible computers and pull the memcal, extract the knock filter, then transplant it to your memcal. right now these are VERY common at the pick-n-pull yards, TPI ecu's OTOH are a lot harder to find.
I have 3 of the 7730 ECM's already, so I am not worried about that. I had this setup running at one point, but borrowed an AUJP chip to make it work. I had to give it back, so I swapped back to carb, but really want to go back.
$50 maybe, since now I'm figuring out how to make one work without buying one.
I've used v6 memcal's several times, by just jumpering the cylinder select pins for use on 305 and 350 chevy's. I tried a '427 type memcal (P6 is the series I think?) they look right, but the netres is too different to work on a P4 ('730 type).
Next time I run a 730, 727 or 749 I'll probably still use a jumpered V6 memcal but I will try transplanting the knock filter from a '427 type pickup PCM.
The reason I believe they are compatible is because I just soldered one onto an EBL-P4 which is in a '730 and I used a 454 filter board from a '427type PCM. Works fine.
The only thing you'll give up over an original TPI memcal is the limp home calibration, which sucks to begin with anyhow.
So, I picked up two 1228706 3.3L ECM's today for the low price of nothing. They look identical to the 7730 ECM too. They came with these two PROM's. Even though they were 3.3L units, they should still work, as long as I do the V6-V8 jumper thing, correct?

Brn/ Blk red cavity d ground.
Blue cavity e knock sensor.
OK, so this will make the factory knock sensor work with a SD setup and not need a factory knock board, correct? If this is the case, why are so many people trying to figure out how to reverse engineer the knock boards?
Also, I was super happy for a short time today. I found a 91 Camaro RS in a yard today that still had the ECM in it. So I pulled it and took it home. Found out it had an AUJW memcal. Drats, thought I got a good deal! I thought all of the RS cars were V8! At least I have can add another good ECM to my pile now.
