Finding the Correct Starter Bin/Spark Table Question

I am getting ready converting my car to TPI. Currently I have a 1277165 ECU that I will be using to convert to TPI. Currently I am running a carburetor. I have a generic 350 parts store motor with the only performance mod is a set of old long tube headers. My transmission is a bit of an oddity but it is a manual 4 speed NP440 with basically the same gearing as a 700-R4. Currently I am reading and in the process of understanding how to tune bins. I have the programmer and chips. I am trying to determine what is going to be the best bin to start with in tuning. I know I need an 1989 base to start with for the cold start injector delete. I think that the ANYP bin is about the closest I can start with (1989 Corvette 6 speed 3.07 rear gears). What I am trying to figure out is what spark table that I should use. My understanding is the spark table is different for from aluminum to iron heads. I think F body or Y body that is the most similar is probably a 1985-86 Y body corvette. I do know that in 86 partway through the year they moved to aluminum heads. So I am not sure which of these bins would be best based on the broadcast code. I am also not sure I can even pull the spark tables from a 1985 bin and put them on an 1989 bin. Any idea which broadcast code I could pull the spark table from and where to find the bin? Also not sure if my thinking about this whole situation is correct maybe I should start with an automatic bin from a 350 F body.

Engine: Stock autoparts store 350
NP 440 Gears: 3.09, 1.67, 1.00, .73
Rear End Gear: 2.73
Engine Vacuum: 20in
Performance Mods: Long Tube Headers
My Overall First Gear Ratio = 8.4
C4 Corvett 6 Speed w/3.07 = 8.2
1985 Corvette Doug Nash 4+3 w/3.07 = 8.8

Yup any fbody 350 auto 89 bin table would be ok to start with. Copy it over to the vette manual bin

Re: Finding the Correct Starter Bin/Spark Table Question

I checked the following link from chevy thunder and found the following bins AUJL, APYN, ANYJ. These are all from F-body auto cars with a 5.7L motor. These all seem to have 2.77 gear ratios would there be any reason to use these vs the AUJM bin?

Re: Finding the Correct Starter Bin/Spark Table Question

Thanks for your suggestions. I will look over some of the bins and see if I can find them, and compare them to see what I can find. I am new at this so I am just trying to get some directly to start off with.

Re: Finding the Correct Starter Bin/Spark Table Question

I would seriously grab a 305 5 speed manual bin and look at the differences between that and a 350 auto bin. If I remember correctly, the decel and idling characteristics are a bit different between the two to account for the 5 speed. It's more than just the manual flag.

Also, the corvette timing tables are really aggressive because they have aluminum heads, so it's better to start off with an iron headed bin. ARAP is one of those bins with really aggressive timing and you could run into detonation if you are using iron heads. Also that bin has a long cranking issue that you would need to tune out.

For your first bin, you could use a 305 manual as base, copy over the MAF tables over from the 350 bin (air/fueling), the main spark tables (timing) and set the injector constant to 22 lbs if you are using the 350 injectors. Also copy the Power Enrichment tables over from the 350 bin so you don't run too lean during Wide Open throttle.

I mean you could do it the opposite way but i think there would be more copy and pasting. You are going to probably want to pick one the $6E bins because they have a lot more goodies to play with.

Does that engine has a computer controlled camshaft?
