tuning question

so my maf is bad but was wondering if im able to still tune with the maf unplugged? or is that considered limp home mode? and if so I thought limp home mode will only work a certain number of times and than not allow you to drive it anymore, (not sure where I read that)

im just running very lean at idle and rich at WOT.

You won't be able to do a proper tune. But can adjust things so that it runs a bit better. Without the MAF the ECM uses the TPS and RPM to create an airflow value. Know as N-Alpha mode. Can tweak the malfunction parameters, or the MAF tables (if used), or the PW table (if used).

or is that considered limp home mode?
Not limp mode. Remove the PROM and start the engine, that is limp mode.

Not true, that could leave someone stranded.

Re: tuning question

thank you... im using the $6E bin, so look at the rpm vs which tbles,, im going to check it out when I get home... just don't like it running 17-19 afr while idle or come to a stop light., that to me is dangerouse... while im cruising its 14.7-15.0 and wot is 10.9 or so afr.

This is actually what GM does now. Slowly walks you down speed limiters until the car is useless. I had a bit of fun on a road trip with this "feature."
