Is the Pocket Programmer battery operated????

I would like to know because I think it would be beneficial to take it to the dragstrip. Thanks.

No, but you can power it with a DC/AC Power Invertor that plugs into the cigarette lighter.

No. It uses a little 9vdc power supply. But with a little thought you could make a adapter to drop 12vdc to 9vdc.

The pocket programmer needs the AC adapter. So, what I did was I went on ebay and bought a DC->AC inverter. Now, I can power my laptop & pocket programmer in the pits. It cost me $26.01 for the TRIPP-LITE 300w POWER INVERTER. It retails about $44-70 at stores.

I think it's battery compatable. xtronics offers a cig. adapter for 29.95. Check their website.

Go to radioshack and get a 12 to 9 volt cig lighter that comes with your choice plug/tip (free). I forget the price but it's WAY less than $30 and the only really important thing is to make sure the converter has enough amps. The pprogrammer only uses 400ma (read on the side of the ac-dc inverter) and the radioshack adaptor is good for up to 1000ma (1amp). So do yourself a favor and just buy that, not the one sold by xtronics. Now if somebody could build a cheap 12 to 24v converter for the eraser! Stupid eproms, I want an eeprom

One advantage of using a DC to AC Power Invertor is you can use it to power a notebook computer. Most of the older notebooks (which most of us use) batteries don't hold much of a charge and you are lucky to get 30 minutes. A Power Invertor allows you to power your notebook as long as you want. I especially like it when I take long drives.
