Console Panel Won't Come Off !

I've been posting about a cig lighter I want to disconnect in the center console panel of my 88 GTA. I got the 3 screws out easily enough. And I got the rear part of the console loose, but the front part is stuck under the radio and even if I push the radio in (doesn't really move much anyway) and pry on the console it won't come up ! I moved the gearshift into neutral so it isn't blocking anything. What am I doing wrong ? What's the trick ? I don't want to break anything. The console panel is thin plastic, and pretty old and creaky, seems like it would snap in half with some force applied to it !

Thanks

did you get rid of the "lip" above the radio?
I have an '84 so it might be a little different,if yours has it,there's two 9/32" hex screws on the bottom. don't be afraid to put a little stress on the plastic console it'll give more than you think.do it in good light it's a challenging piece indeed.

Junkyard Dog,

I just got done using the "stare at it some more" method.

I went looking at my radio for the hex head screws. Didn't find them BUT... as I tweaked the 'lip' surrounding the radio it gave way and came right off !! It is held on by a couple friction points. The console was really sticking on this 'lip', as you suggested. With the lip off, the console should now have room to come out. Thanks for the inspiration. Now on to glorious victory over the cig lighter....
