im stumped......headlight problems
ok heres the deal... its an 83 camaro
the problem is with my lights. when i turn them on, the left headlight is fine and the right one is barely on(dark orange dimly lit) i have replaced EVERY light bulb in the car and it stillhas the problem all the fuses are good so im thinking that it may be the switch. its been replaced by the previouse owner and i think it may be bad(besides it some cheap looking replacement) so i got a new switch but i have no idea how to get the old one out
any help would be appreciated
thanks

If one light is working, it's not the switch. Check the ground connection from the RH light connector to the chassis & inspect the connector, itself. The (tan wire) power feed to the RH connector comes in on the LH side, so there is a tan wire across the top of the radiator that powers the RH side that you may need to inspect as well.

It sounds like your headlight is playing the role of a fuse (positive in positive out) I don't know how that happened but test the voltage from the connector. Use a multimeter and set to "DCV 20v" and ground the black onto the chassis and then just test (with the red lead duh) the voltage from the back of the connector. If one is ~12v and the other is 0 test the 0 with the musical ohms test. If that is good then there is something fubar about the car. The high beams have the 3 wires (ground, high+, low+). Now if both give you ~12v like I think is happening, then your light is acting like a fuse to the other headlight. That is why it's glowing red and very dim. I did that once with a light when I was first doing electrical work. My dash had a nice warm orange glow :-) powered the headlight through the climate control bulb
. It worked but that was stupid because I would turn my lights on and the radio fuse would blow. Those were so educational. Anyways, do yourself a favor and get a multimeter from Radio Shack for like $20. They all work so don't think you're going to need anything fancy. It's basically a really cool battery checker
. Ask a few friends if they could show you how to use it if you are completely clueless. You CAN break the multimeter if used incorrectly.

Dale Earnhart, you have done so much, you will be missed.
