getting the 5 speed pattern to light up??

i got the 406 with tha 6 speed gm trans i was wondering if i could get a 6 speed console outta a 93+ {do they have tha 5 speed shift pattern like my 89 console has?}anyways since i have a six speed it would b kinda cool if i could make it light up when im in the gear like if im in first gear the 1 lights up when i shift to second the 1st gear light goes out and the second gear light comes on etc etc.anyways was jus wondering if this was possible to do an feasable finacialy.

From: out of my mind; be back in 5 minutes....
Car: 1989 Firebird Formula
Engine: Internal Combustion
Transmission: Completed
Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
Might be able to do it using some microswitches (like those used on a carb for activating a nitrous system) working on the shifter shaft; and for the indicator, fabricating some small compartments under the gear indicator and using LED's to light them up from underneath.
