I ran into the same problem when i installed my system in my 1990 iroc. I ended up running my power wire through the passanger side fender and through the hinges of the door and then into the interior. Kinda hard to explain but it worked. I had a 1991 RS before the iroc and i had to drill through the firewall because the battery in that car was on the driver side. So it really depends on what side your battery is on and how much wire you have.

In my 91 RS I had to drill a hole throught the firewall. If you do this make sure you use some type of grommet in the hole. Also, make special effort to locate the hole so that it is as far away as possible from your exhaust manifold (I didn't consider this when I drilled mine and ended up having to make a heat shield in the engine compartment).

In my 88 GTA there was an existing rubber grommet somewhere above the brake pedal. On the engine side, the hole is just below the master cylinder. The hole already has stock wires running through it and it was big enough for me to run a 4-awg power cable for my sound system through it.

Try your system out before wasting money on Dynomat. That stuff is expensive and I'm not really a fan...I just tightened up some loose bolts, used some silicone and tape, and I really don't have any rattles any more. My plate was bad, but I just needed a new retaining clip. The lights in the back can be a pain too...once again, silicone. Just my opinion.
