How do I remove the turn signal arm?

My cruise control is acting up, it goes to full throttle every time I slide the switch over to the ON position, and I think the switch at the end of the arm might be bad, how do I take it off so I can check it out? Would there be another reason the cruise would do this? Thanks

You can check out the functionality of the switches with an ohm meter without removing the arm. However, to remove the arm, put the washer switch in the "off" position & pull the lever out of the column.

How can you use an ohm meter to check it? I pulled the cruise control module and probed the plugs to check for voltage from the switches, and got no response. Is there a place closer to the actual switch which I can probe to check their functionality? Currently I get absolutly no response from the cruise control, but all the vaccuum lines look fine, and the pedal switchs ect. have all been checked. So how can I check the m/f lever?
