Will this screw anything up?

I'm changing my car from auto to stick and I'm putting in a clutch safety switch. The switch I got came from a 4th gen and has 2 thick wires coming out of it-one yellow and one brown. I noticed that even though I had an automatic, I still had a connector for a clutch safety switch built into the harness. This connector also has 2 thick wires-one's yellow, but the other is purple. I went ahead and cut off the connector and wired the 2 yellow wires together and the purple wire to the brown. Is this what I should have done? Sorry this is so long. Any help from anyone will be greatly appreciated.

Brown, Purple, it doesn't matter, its just a simple open/closed switch. Sounds like you'll be OK.
