Could it be VATS?
Could it be VATS?
I've got a 91 FB w/305tbi 5-spd. I was driving it today with no problems. After shutting it down, about four hrs later I get in to go to work and it wont start. I have all power, but when I try to crank it the temp. gauge goes all the way up, but thats all it does. I noticed that if I put the key in the on position for a few seconds, without the car being started of course, the security light stayed on. When I got home from work it started right up. This happened once before, i checked the alt., that was fine, when I put the alt back on it started right up. I noticed the chip on my key seems to be flat where as I believe it used to have a raised plateau. Should the security light stay on? Any comments and tips will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
The security light should go off after about 2 seconds. If it is staying on, then it is a VATS problem. Do you have a spare set of keys to use to see if the prob goes away?
