charging problem!!!!!!! (battery)

charging problem!!!!!!! (battery)

yesterday my car stopped and never turn on again
so i used jumper cables with my bro's jeep and it did work but when ever i took the cable out it turned off so i changerd the battery and now its working but my battery guage its going down and its not charging the battery

what can i do please help me every time is getting worst
i can barely turn the car on

Probably your alternator. To check for sure start the car and check the voltage across your battery terminals. If you are reading approx. 13 to 14 volts your alternator is good. If it is lower than 12 volts it's most likely gone bad.

I wouldn't trust the car guage at this point. If the alternator is getting flaky then the voltage regulation may be off. I would definitely check the voltage across the battery terminals with the car running to be sure.

On the other hand, yes, I guess it could be a wire somewhere but I doubt it. Unless something has been rubbing and one is cut or stripped through and shorting.

the battery is new and how do i check the voltage?????????

my car is working like if the battery were a normal battery and i bet that when the volts get to 0 ill be dead
cuz then have been going down

and how do i check the wires?

put a hand held voltmeter directly to the battery with the car running if you get less than 13 volts replace the alt.
