How to fix my Brights ???
Since I've owned my GTA the brights have never worked. I've checked everything and replaced a couple things but I finally have it narrowed down to what it is.
It turns out that the lever you pull back on the column does not click them on. You can pull the lever and it does nothing, no noise nothing but move. I've already bought an NOS lever and I'm installing a new Airbag and Wheel soon.
Can someone tell me what needs to be fixed while I'm in there to get the brights to work?

i'll try to help you out, my friend... been a while since i fixed mine and may not have the exact same problem as me, but hopefully it'll help anyways... first - when you attempt to hit the brights, do they come on at all, but the switch just doesn't engage? if not, you still might have the problem i did. the hi-beam switch is located on the column, down near the floorboard, about the 11:00 position... it's easies to drop your column (the 2 nuts on the column bracket will drop it, you probably know what i'm talking about). you will see the actuator rod running along the column - see if that is real loose. if it is, your switch has probably come loose where it's mounted. there are two 1/4" bolts on the switch (pain in the butt to get to), but all you should have to do is snug up that switch. slide it up towards the wheel, to where the rod gets taut, and tighten them little bolts down. don't over torque them so they won't loosen up ever again cuz they might break... that would suck... anyhow, try that - i hope it works for ya...

when i replaced my turn signal switch, my highs didn't work, and that's because the bar had slipped out of the switch. so before you drop the column down, just see if it's in the little groove/hole, and if not, just push the switch by hand and put the rod back where it belongs.
Thanks, I'll check all that out. Right now my brights don't go on at all. I can pull the lever back but it doesn't "click" to engage the brights like it should, it does nothing, so I know it has to do with the switch it's self. It feeld like the lever isn't even coming into contact with the switch because it seems to me that if the switch was broken it would still click, just not go on...
I had the same problem but it turned out to be a bad ground running to the highbeams. For a quick fix I simply spliced into the ground leads and bolted it to the body at the closest bolt. Later I found corrosion at the ground point for the beams.

i have a similar prob with my 90 camaro, the turn signal doesn't hit the switch, i can push and pull the metal bar to make the lights work, but i can't figure out how to get it to work with the turn signal, to acess the switch, i pulled two pieces off the column and another little piece fell out, i think that piece that fell out is suppsed to move the bar? any help would be great. maybe someplace i can see a diagram of how it is supposed to go together.

the high beam switch is on a rail underneath the dash way up in there, trace it from the metal bar that pulls the switch from the lever. there are 2 bolts, 7 or 8mm, loosen them and move the switch closer and tighten. this should fix it if it is the switch that is out of adjusment.

I have the exact same problem. My bar looks all ****ed.
do I need to take the entire column apart to replace the rod?

I just fixed it today on my lunchbreak, I saw the switch down on the column, but I couldn't get to the bolts holding it on there, but I noticed that the bar was out of the switch, so i put it back in there and also bent the end of the rod toward the steering wheel a little bit because i think it was a little out of whack. Once i figured out how to put the little piece that goes inbetween the turn signal and the bar in there, it was good to go, thanks for the help though.
