One possibility is you have a wire (one to a park lamp) shorting to ground somewhere. A common place is the rear harness (tail lamp) wiring.
Another possibility would be the headlight switch has gone bad.

well, i replaced the headlight switch about a month ago..I am wondering if it is the aftermarket guages. The lights are hooked up to the parking lights so that when they are turned on the guage light scome on...could that be it?

I wouldn't think the extra load from gauge lights would cause it but, stranger things happen. It could also be a short around the area you wired them.
One way to check would be to unhook your gauge wiring and see if that resolves the problem. If it does, you might want to look into wiring the gauge lights to a relay that is switched by the parking lights.
Just out of curiousity, is there a reason you didn't/couldn't use the original grey wire(s) that powered the factory gauge lights ?

I'd say yes if you can.
The grey wiring to your original cluster lights also are on a seperate fused circuit so, if there is a fault in the wiring, it would only take the gauge lights out and not your park lamps too. Also with using the original cluster wiring, you'd have dimmer control on your new gauges as well.
