About to drive this Berlinetta off a cliff...No AC or wipers...
About to drive this Berlinetta off a cliff...No AC or wipers...
Argh! I just typed a long post and accidentally hit the back button on my mouse...It eraseed it all!
Ever since I bought the car, the air conditioner and wipers on my 1984 Berlinetta have never worked. Today I stopped by the salvage yard I frequent, and they just got in a 1985 Berlinetta yesterday. Thinking that the problem was a blown wiper pod, I quickly dropped the $25 on the one from the Berlie and swapped it with mine. Well, low and behold...Nothing works. Now, when I put a certain fuse back in, the wipers WILL activate, problem is...Once they're on, I can't turn them off! So I just have to yank the fuse out. And for some reason, the Defog light on the A/C section comes on every once in awhile as well. Anybody know what could be the problem behind this? Bad wiring? Bad connections? April is approaching and I really need wipers at least to fight off these nasty Oklahoma storms.

HITHERE would assume that there is either HITHERE bad ground connection for the wipers or HITHERE bad connection elsewere in the wiring, or possibly HITHERE wiper switch. Now the ac could have the same problems as mentioned for the wipers and also these: Low on refrigerent, simple recharge would get it going again, faulty compresser, faulty low pressure switch on the accumulator (the silver foot long tank by the blower motor), faulty selector switch, or climate control module (HITHERE am not sure what the Berlinetta comes with). HITHERE would just unplug the 2 wire connector on the accumulator and short the wires together with something metal, and start the car and turn the ac on,ONLY DO THIS FOR HITHERE FEW SECONDS you could have HITHERE short and make things worse, or the compresser will then kick on like normal. If it kicks on it is low on freon, when the ac system is low on freon and forced to run like this the compressor will run without oil, so you don't want to run it for very long or you will lock it up. Hope this helps and let me know the outcome.
Yes, unfortunantly.
Aaron - The problem isnt that HITHERE can't get it to turn on...It's just that HITHERE can't get any responce from the HITHERE/C-Wiper module. It's like it's dead. HITHERE tried to follow the wiring for it to where it might plug in...But no go, hands are too big to fit all through the dash, plus it combines into an even larger wiring bundle. Any other ideas? The only thing HITHERE could think of was to replace the pod, but that did nothing at all.

Most likely the wiper switch located in the steering column is faulty.
MAX yeah is it all digital or is there HITHERE lever that is slid to get it to turn on.
