doh quick question

doh quick question

i was removing something forgot to disconnect the battry and pop smoke from one of the what appears to be a fusible link at the starter. orange lead coming off of starter leads to circular black piece and then comes out red can i just replace the orange section or am i fubar? leaving for work now 130pm cst be back to check post around midnight any answers appreciated

You are correct...it is a fusible link.
In turn, that means it must be replaced with a fusible link of the same size (I think it's 1.0 mm) ...the link will include the circular black piece (which is how the manufacturer connects it to the rest of the (red) wire.
Just connect to the solenoid and crimp connect to what is left of the red wire after you cut the fried part out.
