what ecm to use with mass air??
i have an 88 5.7 mass air system, no sensors, no ecm, no chip. what is the best computer/chip to use? it is impossible to modify my mass air harness for speed density correct?

86-89 (or 90?) used the 165 ECM then switched to the ECM number I can't remember offhand... 730 ? I think ?
Converting is not impossible, just takes a little effort. Do a search for "MAF to speed density" and you'll probably find alot of useful information.

the 86-89 MAF cars used the 165 ECM and it's the one you want.
It is certainly NOT impossible to modify the harness to work with speed density. Many have done it.
Here's Mike Davis' site. He gives all the info you need for the harness upgrades:
http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~davis/z28/ecm_swap_730/
You can also contact John Millican, who I believe will do the harness upgrades at a reasonable cost.
