I don't know of the exact number, but it would need to charge two batteries. An extra battery puts a significant load on an alternator. How much stereo equipment are you trying to power, cruizing or without the engine running? You can get a relay or a battery isolator, thaere are a few different ways to do it.

no need for a second battery. get an optima and respin your alternator to its max amp output. even those 2 are overkill for an amp and two 12's. you have early or latestyle alternator? i know the early style can push out 125 amps respun and the later can do 175+ amps

hi

how do i respin my alternator to give out more amps?
new pulley? i have a 78 amp alternator stock from 1984.

also would this help my cars lights from flickering at idle, ever light in the car does it, but for some reason my cd player does not and i have a sub and amp but the flickering happens even when the amp is off, and before i even got the amp, but once i go over 800 to 1000 rpm it goes away, is this the alternator and would respining it help this problem go away?

also i cant imagne needing two batteries in a camaro, seems like alot, i have one red top optima and its great it was in my car when i bought it and hasnt given my a single problem in 2+ years, and i have left my light on on a few occasions, it always has enough to start the car and in one or two revs of the motor after start up its fully charged to 14.5 or 15 volts again. my recomendation if you are gonna run a good heavy power full system is get a red or yellow top optima and get thick new battery cables that connect to the alt. and the ground. and make sure the wire kit for the amp is big enough for you amp.
