smoking wiring???

in my 91 RS w/ an LO5, i just put in a new starter.. everything works fine, except my alternator wire and the wiring harness next to the battery start smoking because of temperature overload... any ideas?!!?

Sounds like too much amperage for those wires and maybe some corrosion.

Yup, wires may be old, corroded, or pushing too many volts
thru.This happened w/ my electric fan than went up in smoke due to old wire and lots of amperage.Just repace it and see if it gets
rid of the culprit.DUECE
