its possible that the switch for the turnsignals / wipers is bad or has a wire cut or loose going from it

Okay, the switch is located inside the steering column and the multifunction lever fits into it. The connector for it is located on the right side of the steering column towards the base. There will be two connectors there but you want the one towards the base of the column. I am including a schematic of the wiper system as well as a test for the switch itself. The wire on the switch is the pink wire. Follow the test and check that wire at all connection points from the switch to the connection on the steering column to pin "C7" of connector C100 on the firewall bulkhead to pin "F" of connector "C1" on the wiper motor module then check pin "D" (red wire) of that same connector from the backside with the connector connected, next check the red wire at the washer motor pump. If at any point in these checks you fail to have power with the ignition "ON" and the washer switch "ON", you have found your problem.

The connector that you want to check is mounted on the right side of the steering column, not inside it.

If your lines are clean and you know the motor runs. Take the motor out and see if it is clogged somewhere, if it's not replace it.

No, the switch itself is inside the steering column. The connector that you want to test is on the right side of the steering column under the dash as I have mentioned at least three times in this thread already counting this one. It is easily accessable although being a contortionist doesn't hurt either. For those of you who aren't contortionist's, feel free to remove the drivers seat.
