weird alternator noise

Engine: 85 5.7L Small Block
Transmission: WC T5
Axle/Gears: 96 disc LT1 3.23 Auburn 10 bolt.
weird alternator noise
my alt is humming when it is plugged in... cant figure out why., and it only does it when the key is in the ON position. also it is a brand new alt.....any help please, will be greatly appreciated
