LT1 starters on a 383? would it work?

LT1 starters on a 383? would it work?
Im done with my 383 but currently dont have money to spend on a mini starter. The engine is going to produce 500+ hp, but more importantly have 10.5:1 compression.
Well I heard LT1 starters are a cheap way of getting around this... Will it work???
its goine to be a pre 86 block, 2 piece RMS (doubt that matters)
Its not going to be used on a lt1, it will be used on a older SMC.
