I just put a new engine in my third gen. It doesnt start.

So I start diagnosing.. No spark.

I took my Ignition control module and coil up to murreys, the ICM tested bad while the coil tested fine.

I replaced the ICM.. Still doesnt start.

Where do I go from here?

 

I have a chiltons manual for my car.. im looking at the wiring diagrams.

The only things I can think of is that I have a bad ecm now?

either that or a bad pickup on the distro.

 

We need more details on the engine. Is the distributor hooked up to the computer? There could be many things wrong. But give more details on your new setup.

 

I was just dumb and didnt have the 4-pin wiring harness hooked up *the one that goes from cap to base of dizzy*

I tried starting it and i get 1 back fire per full revolution of engine.

I took number one spark plug wire off, and attached it to a spark gap tester. It didnt look like number 1 was firing at all. The battery may be close to being dead, engine doesnt crank like it should. Tomorrow im getting the battery charged and hopefully with some tunning ill start er up.


I dont know if the distro is hooked up to the computer. The only wires that hook to the cap are +12 and the tach wire.
