Check Engine Light - Code 13 - Help! (84 TA)

The Check Engine Light in my 84 Trans Am will come on after about 10 minutes of driving. Sometimes it stays on for a few minutes then turns off; other times it stays on until I turn the car off. It's picking up a code 13 for an O2 sensor. Now, I recently replaced the 305 with a 350 and the stock exhaust manifolds with headers. The place to screw in the O2 sensor on the header is on the driver's side down near the header exits (while on the stock manifolds, it's on the passenger side near the top). So, I bought a new O2 sensor and spliced in the same gauge copper wire to make it long enough to reach to the new installation point. I also reset the ECM to clear the codes, but it came back again. Can anyone help me figure out what is going on with this?

Thanks,
Joe

Code 13 is usually set when the ECM stops getting a signal from the O2 sensor. Double check your splices.

Do you have a multimeter? Testing the O2 circiut is very easy and on an 84 car a very simple circuit. If you have one I will tell you where to start.
