Pesky Electrical Gremlins

Morning everyone.

What is the most efficient way one tracking down electrical gremlins?

On Sunday, a new problem started to show itself. I was getting on a highway, I’d say about 50% throttle, and all of a sudden, the car started to buck, the radio went out and the check engine light went on. It “died” three or four time in the span of a second or two and then it was OK. I thought it was a fluke but it’s happened yesterday and today, all under different conditions - bumpy road, smooth road, going around a bend, jumping on the throttle – it doesn’t seem to matter.

Could a short cause the car to die like that? Is there anywhere I should be concentrating my efforts?

Thanks,

Scott

I'd start by finding out what code was thrown that caused the service engine soon light to come on.

By radio, you mean FM radio station wouldn't tune in?

That's great!

No code, it was just the electricity going out.

I found nothing up top and my mechanic was generous enough to toss the car on a lift for me.

It was one of the wires going to the starter that made it's way loose and was touching the header. No big deal, all fixed now
