Can I close the hatch completely w/ a broken motor???
I just bought a 91 Z28 and the hatch motor doesn't appear to be working. The previous owner said it just stopped working a few days prior. I knew it did work because the pics of the car I saw online showed the rear hatch fully closed.
ANYHOO - Is there a way to fully shut the rear hatch even if the motor is broken? I'm sure its been discussed before, but its pouring buckets outside and I'm desperate to get the hatch actually closed, not just latched.

Re: Can I close the hatch completely w/ a broken motor???
I have an 89 TA and same happened to me yesterday, don't mean to get your hopes' up, but I unscrewed the hatch contacts and removed the plastic trunk to see what's going on with the power hatch motor. I looked at the connections and noticed the wires to the hatch light come off, I reconnected all the wires again and it WORKED. I would take a look inside, hopefully it's a loose wire...

Re: Can I close the hatch completely w/ a broken motor???
i know this is going to sound like a hack job but...mine was broken when i got the car, so i took the the worm gear out of the motor and used it to manually spool up the latch high enough to catch but still low enough to seal the weatherstrip. and simply tack welded the motor in place. like i said it sounds like a hack job, but who really needs a power hatch latch anyway?
