Gauge cluster connector help

I bought an 86 IROC and someone had replace the OEM cluster with an aftermarket system, but it was removed before I bought the car. I did purchase a factory cluster off this site about 2 months ago and planned on installing it. My problem comes with how they cut the wires from the factory connector, they only left maybe a half inch or less wire comming out of the rear of the connector which is not enough to strip back and solder the factory wires back on, so how (if i even can) remove the pin in to connector to recrimp to original wire? In case I have confused anyone I am talking about the 14 pin connector on the left side (black one) where the gauge cluster sits. I know that I have an option to go the a junk yard and cut the connector out with enough length to solder the wires on but third gens are hard to come by at the local junk yards sometimes. Any help would be very much appreciated since I am planning on putting in the motor and having it running this weekend.

Re: Gauge cluster connector help

it can be done . lots of time required , female connectors , well all of them are a PITA . eaiser to get J/Y connecters and solder . clean connectors , male / female , solder splices , clean , coat with liquid tape . good luck .
