Almost solved add-on hatch pulldown install but...

I am currently trying to make the pulldown unit that was not original to my car work. My question is, where do i splice in the wire from the ebrake? I have tried to the green wire on the hatch release switch with no change in operation. I have tried splicing it into the red & white from the light and that blows the fuse every time. I just want this darn thing to work and be over with. Thanks anyone

Problem resolved. Bad junkyard motor. Woohoo. Can finally knock that off the list. My 85 did not come equiped with the pulldown, does it have a different sized striker?

No, the hatch hook is the same. I'm surprised you got it to bolt to the car. The mount pattern is different on the 86-91 pull-down units vs the slam latch. Also you'd have to get the interior panel from the 85-91 cark I was made larger (protrudes further into the trunk area) to accomodate the larger size of the electric pull-down assembly.

Thanks Lon,

Actually I removed the old bracket and welded upthe new one. Also got the new trunk cover but the only problem left is 1. why then cant i latch and b. the carpet that covered the old plastic is a pinch to short to coverf the new plastic so now i have to figure a workaround for that as having it as just plain plastic is kinda ugly
