Can the Resistor in the "VATS key" go bad? ---
My car wont start once in awhile and I thought it was heat soak on the starter ... until I tried starting it today and it wouldnt start after sitting for 3 days, lol.
The security light does NOT come on, but all the lights work ... and no sound when I turn the key.
I only have one worn down key , and wasnt sure if the resistor could possibly go bad, and I need a new key ... or its probably the wires that I heard usually break/get loose in the ignition.
If its that, then its time to go to radio shack to get my resistance read, and get a resistor to do the bypass mod!!!
Thanks

It's usually the contacts in the ignition cylinder that wear out, before the actual resistor pellet in the key.
If the bypass resistor works, it's definitely a problem between the key and ignition cylinder. The new cylinder isn't as expensive as new keys, though so be forewarned.
