Why is this wire burning?

I just swapped in a 305 TPI motor in my originally 305 TBI camaro and now this wire burned up and the dash does not turn on when attempting to start. Can anyone help?Name: Picture001.jpg

Is this wire on the drivers side? If so my car has the same wire unpluged. Could never tell where it went.

On your burning wire. U know its a short right. So its not a fuse although one could have burned up in the "meltdown". My advise may not be the best, but what I would do is see if the wire was loose at any junctions. If it was not then, find out where your grounds are for that circuit, & see if they are all making good contact, or just not hooked up. If all that fails then look at a tbi car, to see if that wire is a lower gauge (bigger wire).
Good luck. Oh and I wold not run power to it again till you go over the above steps. Some one else may have a short cut also. Anyone?

I see a lot of butt connectors. When you get the wire problem straight make sure you tape them up to keep water out.
