Unique tach issue.

This is interesting, the tach in my Camaro is reading twice what it should. I know that if it were aftermarket, that wouldn't be a hard fix; the car is bone stock though. Any ideas? I haven't pulled the cluster yet and the white wire is connected firmly to the coil.

Re: Unique tach issue.

just from personal expierence i did a v6-v8 swap but when completed i hooked up my origional tach and realized that it was reading way too high rpm than it actually was. I did some research and the v6 and v8 tachs are programmed different. Was it always reading high? Ever a engine swap?

hmmmm... It's a new to me car but the vin states that its a TBI 305. Although, now that I think about it, the title is exempt on mileage. Maybe a cluster swap? If so, how can I fix this on the cheap?

Re: Unique tach issue.

I had the same problem with a "doubled" tach. I found a used rs gauge cluster online for $20.00, pulled the gauge and the little circuit board and it now works fine.
